How does a luggage scale work?
A digital luggage scale is simple to use and requires no preparation. Here's how:
1. Attach the hook
Hook the luggage scale's hook onto the luggage strap or around the handle of your suitcase or bag.
2. Lift and hold steady
Lift the suitcase vertically from the floor and hold it still for 2–3 seconds so the scale can register a stable measurement.
3. Read the display
The digital display shows the weight immediately — accurate to 100 grams. Most airlines allow up to 23 kg per suitcase in economy, so you can instantly see if you're within the limit.
4. Adjust if necessary
Too heavy? Move a few items to your carry-on or another suitcase — and weigh again. It only takes a few seconds.

A bathroom scale is inaccurate for suitcases — you have to stand on it with the suitcase yourself, subtract your own weight, and guess.
